What a missing test leaves open
Each assay on a peptide COA answers one question.
A missing assay means that question was not answered for the tested sample. It does not by itself mean the vendor failed, and it is not proof that the other results are wrong. The reverse is also true: a present assay answers only its own question, never the questions beside it. The labels below are the same testing labels used on vendor cards across this site — each row states what the result answers, and the question it leaves open.
HPLC Purity
Separates the sample into detectable components to estimate the proportion represented by the target compound.
Answers: How much of the detected material is the target peak.
Leaves open: Whether the material is the claimed compound, how much of the vial is peptide, or whether anything outside the method’s detection scope is present.
LC-MS/MS Identity
Measures molecular mass and, where reported, fragmentation to check consistency with the expected compound.
Answers: Whether the measured mass is consistent with the expected compound.
Leaves open: How clean the material is or how much of the vial is peptide — identity confirms what it is, not how much.
Net Peptide Content
Estimates how much of the total material is actual target peptide rather than non-peptide weight.
Answers: How much of the total material is actual target peptide rather than non-peptide weight.
Leaves open: Whether the material is the claimed compound — content is measured after identity is assumed, not proven.
Quantity / Content
Measures the amount or concentration of the target compound in the submitted sample.
Answers: The amount or concentration of the target compound in the submitted sample.
Leaves open: This result does not answer the other assays on the panel.
Residual Solvents
Measures traces of processing solvents included in the laboratory’s test panel.
Answers: Whether traces of the processing solvents in the laboratory’s test panel are present.
Leaves open: Anything outside the solvents, detection limits, and methods identified in the report — not detected means not detected at or above the stated threshold.
Heavy Metals
Measures selected metals included in the laboratory’s analysis.
Answers: Whether the selected metals in the laboratory’s analysis are present.
Leaves open: It does not imply that every possible metal was tested — the displayed metals must match the report.
Trace Elements (ICP-MS)
Uses mass spectrometry to measure selected elements and metals at low concentrations.
Answers: The measured levels of the elements the report actually covers.
Leaves open: This result does not answer the other assays on the panel.
PCR Microbial Screen
Screens for microbial genetic material covered by the laboratory’s PCR assay.
Answers: Whether genetic material from the organisms or targets included in the test is present.
Leaves open: Whether the sample is sterile — PCR detects genetic material, not viability, and is not a sterility result unless the report identifies a validated sterility method.
Sterility
Tests the submitted sample using the sterility method identified in the laboratory report.
Answers: Whether viable microbial growth is detected in the submitted sample under the stated method.
Leaves open: Bacterial endotoxin burden — a sterility result applies to the submitted sample and does not independently establish the condition of all units or future batches.
Bacterial Endotoxin
Measures bacterial endotoxin levels in the submitted sample.
Answers: The level of bacterial endotoxin in the submitted sample.
Leaves open: Whether viable organisms are present — endotoxins can remain even when live bacteria are not detected, and endotoxin testing is separate from microbial screening and sterility testing.
Fentanyl Screen
Screens for fentanyl or the fentanyl-related analytes included in the laboratory method.
Answers: Whether fentanyl or the fentanyl-related analytes in the laboratory method are present.
Leaves open: Anything not on the screening list — the result must not be presented as proof that no other substances are present.
pH
Measures how acidic or alkaline a tested liquid sample is.
Answers: How acidic or alkaline a tested liquid sample is.
Leaves open: It does not establish identity, concentration, sterility, or stability.
Water Content / Moisture
Measures water or moisture present in the submitted material.
Answers: How much water or moisture is present in the submitted material.
Leaves open: Purity or identity — water content can affect measured net peptide content and material handling, but it does not independently establish purity or identity.
Appearance
Records visible characteristics such as color, clarity, form, or visible particles.
Answers: The visible characteristics of the sample, such as color, clarity, form, or visible particles.
Leaves open: It cannot independently confirm identity, purity, concentration, sterility, or overall quality.
Conformity Assessment
Compares reported test results with the acceptance criteria stated in the laboratory report.
Answers: Whether the reported results meet the acceptance criteria stated in that laboratory report.
Leaves open: Anything about tests or specifications not shown in the document — conformity applies only to what is on the page.
Other Reported Test
A laboratory test reported in the linked document that has not yet been assigned a standardized testing category.
Answers:
Leaves open:
Conformity is not a second purity test
Conformity compares the reported result with the acceptance criteria stated on that report. It is not a second purity test, and it applies only to the tests and specifications shown in the document — it should not be read as a general claim that the product is safe, approved, or suitable for any particular use.
What a complete panel still cannot prove
One lot is not every lot. A complete panel on one sample is not a catalog-wide guarantee — it is evidence about the tested sample under the stated method. How a vendor's overall testing record is weighed is part of our ratings methodology.
